Just as the seasons of nature change, so does the human body. To keep the body in balance, we rely on nature's wisdom.

We all come into this life with our own make up of energies and elements replicating natures elements. These are know as “doshas”.

Ayurveda is the science of balancing the three main doshas to help our bodies function in harmony with the way nature intended.

The Three Doshas

  • Vata Dosha

Ether (Space) & Wind (Air) Element

Represents: Movement, transportation, and communication in the body

Energy that controls bodily functions associated with motion, including the nervous system, blood circulation, breathing, blinking, and your heartbeat.

In balance: There is creativity, vitality, and enthusiasm.

Out of balance: Can produce fear, anxiety, and worry.

Location in physiology: colon, joints, and inside the bones and the brain.

  • Pitta Dosha

    Fire Element

Represents: Digestion and metabolism in the body

Energy that controls the body's metabolic systems, including digestion, absorption, nutrition, and your body's temperature.

In balance: Leads to contentment, intelligence, and generosity.

Out of balance: Can cause stomach issues, inflammation, and anger.

Location of physiology: liver, small intestine, skin.

  • Kapha Dosha

    Earth & Water Element

Represents: Structure, strength (immunity), lubrication in the body

Energy that controls growth in the body. It supplies water to all body parts, moisturizes the skin, and maintains the immune system.

In balance: Expressed as love, forgiveness, and nurturing

Out of balance: Can lead to insecurity and envy.

    Location of physiology: chest (lungs).

  • Kansa is the Indian word for the blend of metals we call bronze which is used to make healing tools in various sizes to use on the face and body. These wonderful massage tools are made in India by artisans that have practice this craft for five generations.

Kansa is used in Ayurveda treatments for face rejuvination, body detoxification, and specific marma (vital energy points), shiatsu, trigger or pressure points work.

  • What is Marma Therapy?

Marmas meaning 'vulnerable' or 'sensetive' zones in Ayurdeda medicine of India. These energy points can be used specifically for the diagnosis and treatment of disease or generally for promoting health and longevity. Depending on assessment and history this relaxing and restoring body work can be taken to the most complete level of transformation in the physical body, with decreasing pain, inflammation, and organ issues as well as in the mind of decreasing headaches, tension and reducing racing thoughts.

  • The term chakra means “wheel” in Sanskrit. chakras are wheels of energy which have depending on their location, different attributes and functions. Their appearance is usually characterized by colors, numbers of branches or petals, and in the spiritual traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism - sounds and deities. Although our overall health is dependent upon the “health” of our chakras, how they are, for the most part, addressed is with respect to our mental/emotional state and our spiritual development. Using aroma therapy, stones, herbal oilation, visualization, and breath are the basis of chakra therapy.

This treatment is really about empowering “you”! The chakra energy either being open or closed relates to how you came into this life. Your chakras are opened or closed to varying degrees. At this time, there are our current life experiences which will determine whether they become more open or closed during this lifetime. Only you can open your own chakras by becoming open to the power and wisdom they make available to you. This comes from spiritual growth and a commitment to becoming - in the words of Teihard de chard - “a spiritual being having a human experience.”

This work is done with guidance from me, giving you the ability to experience an awakened state of being through the process of intention, breath, visualization, smell, touch, and meditation.

  • What is Abhyanga Massage?

“The Ayurvedic Oil Massage” is an integral part of purification and rejuvenation of the body and mind using warm oils that are specifically chosen to pacify the doshas, (elemental properties) in the body related to nature. Unlike massage which is used for recreation and relaxation, abhyanga is a therapeutic procedure used in many health disorders. Medicated oils are used to encourage therapeutic effects on the body.
